Candidate statement
I am currently a doctoral candidate in the Lifespan Developmental Psychology program at North Carolina State University. My research interests at NCSU have focused on the developmental role of culture and beliefs on both students and teachers within classroom settings, with special emphasis on elementary and middle school aged populations. Before enrolling at NCSU, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, and my Masters of Arts degree in General Psychology from the University of North Carolina – Wilmington in Wilmington, NC.

I am running as a regional representative due to my passion for education especially as it relates to minority experiences in educational settings. Now more than ever it is important to focus on research, policies and teaching pedagogies that ensure the success of every minority student. The Asian diaspora particularly is so diverse, and my mission will be to make certain that voices that represent the various aspects of the Asian experience are heard and magnified. It is important for me to demonstrate that Asian issues affect us all regardless of our culture and background. I hope my candidacy sends the message that we all must be invested in each other’s futures and successes.
