University of Minnesota
Bio: I am Pratiti Ketoki, a graduate student at the University of Minnesota. My work focuses on South Asian American and South Asian Diaspora Studies. My specialisations include Global Asias, Sound Studies and Bengali Diaspora Studies. I attempt to understand how music creates community in Bengali immigrant music culture, I am also interested in disability studies, literary culture and early modern global migration. My work is rooted in critical caste studies, and reflects on my position as a mixed caste Dalit identifying person.
Candidate Statement:
I have extensive experience as an organiser and graduate student leader in Asian American Spaces. I am the founder and lead convenor of the Global Asias Collaboratory at the University of Minnesota which has been a very successful collaboratory hosting many events and programs. Previously, I have also served as the president of Colorlit, a POC collaborative at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and as the DEi chair at the Bangali Student Organisation at UC Berkeley. I believe I will be able to work well in this position as I am extremely passionate about planning and working in an academic organisation and building structures with Asian American Studies. I am very passionate about academic fundraising and have extensive experience in the same.
