Candidate statement
Ph.D. Candidate, Performance Studies, Tufts University

Bio: I am a PhD candidate in Performance Studies at Tufts University. My research sits at the intersection of performance studies, Asian American studies, and diaspora studies to examine the sky and airplane as a critical site of passage, racialization, and embodied ontological formation for the Asian/Asian American diaspora. Outside of my research, I have a deep relationship with Boston Chinatown where I worked as a project manager, researcher, youth worker, and curator. I was on the site committee for AAAS Boston and organized two off-site events: an evening of performance and a community panel on archiving Boston Chinatown.

Candidate Statement:
AAAS has been an intellectual home for me as a scholar and I am excited to serve as the graduate student representative on the board. In these tumultuous times when our communities are under threat, I believe that graduate student voices are paramount to challenging and sustaining Asian American studies. As the graduate student representative, I hope to advocate for graduate students to be listened to and respected as current and future colleagues of the field. I hope to bring this ethos to the graduate student events and make mentorship and connection mutual and exciting.
