Candidate statement

I’m Associate Professor of Asian American Studies and History at the University of Connecticut where I also serve as Director of the Asian and Asian American Studies Institute. I earned a PhD in Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley and conduct research on the development of Asian racial formations in transnational and comparative contexts. As a board member I would emphasize the inclusion of the arts community, growing Asian American studies programs in my region, and serving faculty employed at universities without Asian American Studies or Ethnic Studies supporting institutions.
