Sherry Cheng is a research professional currently working at NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center in the Oncology Clinical Trials Unit. Previously, she has a mixed of experiences in events management, educational mentorship, and psychotherapy research. Her research interests are child and adolescent psychotherapy outcomes as it relates to environmental and educational factors. She has presented in multiple levels at both the national and university levels, including American Psychological Science and American Psychological Association conferences. Her research writings have been published in various national psychology newsletters. She is interested to pursue a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology within 5 years to advance child and adolescent research as well as practices.

I am applying to run for the board member for New England/Central & Eastern Canada Representative at Association for Asian American Studies. As an Asian American female professional with an interest in Chinese American families research as it relates to psychotherapy and educational outcomes, I would like to be part of an organization which advocates for the best practices as well as disseminate knowledge in the research arena. From the mission of the organization, I see my involvement to be long term as I contribute to the organization in various efforts of fundraising, event planning, membership, and academic writing.
