Candidate statement
My goals as your representative are threefold: organizing temporary faculty, gathering and disseminating information, and finding resources for temporary faculty. I plan to distribute a survey and conduct focus group research to create a report to be distributed among the AAAS community. Second, I plan to create a common list-serv or Facebook group for information-sharing. Third, I plan to advocate for further funding for adjuncts to attend AAAS meetings and plan events related to career development. Previously, I helped organize adjunct faculty at Northwestern University with the goal of unionizing temporary faculty.
I’m currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Notre Dame in the Department of American Studies. After graduating with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley, I earned my doctorate in Sociology from Princeton University. Prior to working at Notre Dame, I worked as a lecturer at Northwestern University in the Asian American Studies Department. I am second-generation Vietnamese from Orange County, California.
