Candidate statement
I hold onto history so that people born tomorrow will know what happened yesterday. At The Chicago Community Trust, I preserve information about our donors, grant recipients, and service over the past century to capture our work in the Chicago region.
Outside the office, I have begun speaking on matters of staff diversity in the archives field. I also serve on the associate board of the Chinese American Service League, which supports Chicago’s Chinatown community and beyond. Otherwise, you can find me working on my “side hustle,” Lawrence & Argyle, an apparel company that celebrates America’s immigrant heritage.

AAAS is intriguing to me because I’ve only recently begun exploring my identity as an Asian-American. I subscribed to the newsletter for its book nominations, and jumped when I saw the archivist position. As a Californian in the Midwest, and as an archivist, I often feel like the only Asian-American in the room. I am confident that I can commit to working closely with AAAS stakeholders to actively preserve its records. Representation of Asian-Americans is improving, but we still have a long way to go. I would love to document AAAS’ evolution as we strive for full acceptance and equality.
