Candidate statement

I am an Assistant Professor of Literature at the University of California, San Diego. My research work addresses critical intersections in transpacific Asian American and Native Pacific studies, particularly in the contexts of literatures and the environment, visual and popular cultures, and speculative fictions. In addition to supporting the wide range of Asian American studies programs and organizations in the region, if elected representative I would pursue and prioritize interdisciplinary collaboration not only within this diverse constituency but also in coalition with other ethnic and Indigenous studies programs and organizations—particularly around the topics of immigration, climate justice, and decolonial movements.
