Candidate statement
I am a program coordinator and affiliate faculty in English at Temple University’s Japan campus. I received my Ph.D. in English from the University of Connecticut in 2016 and my MA in American Studies from Columbia University in 2011, studying under Cathy Schlund-Vials and Gary Okihiro respectively. I published an open educational textbook titled Bridges: United States Academia for First-Generation and International College Students with Temple University Press in 2021: https://temple.manifoldapp.org/projects/bridges.
It would be a privilege and a source of pride to serve as archivist for this association. I first joined AAAS at the 2010 Austin conference and have presented at 10 meetings since. At the 2017 Portland meeting, I happily took part in the AAAS Junior Faculty Workshop. In 2019, I was honored to serve as a AAAS delegate representative to the American Studies Association of Korea meeting. If elected Archivist, I will do my very best to correspond with our members in a timely, clear, and empathetic manner. I will positively encourage all members to participate in elections, voting, and the business meeting. I love this association, and I am eager and willing to help in any way possible. Thank you for your consideration.
