Candidate statement

At 24 — an independent scholar — I was mentored into my first SLSA panel at ASU’s “Out of Time” conference in 2017. As a student of both historians of science and learning scientists, my work appropriates the politics of alchemy in order to ‘desettle’ Western borders between natural, cultural, and technical knowledge practices. As a member-at-large, my commitments will remain: (1) promoting the uptake of Black and Indigenous science studies, (2) recruiting students and independent scholars with interdisciplinary ambitions, and (3) leveraging streams, workshops, and other special events to further the rich legacy of SLSA mentorship. Thank you for this opportunity!
