Amendment to Constitution - ASECS Executive Director

Voting: Closed 3 years ago
Beginning in June 2021, the ASECS Executive Director, a position formerly filled by a volunteer member of the Society, will become a fulltime position held by an employee of the Society; this transition necessitates a change to the ASECS Constitution. Administrative best practices separate governance, which is the purview of the Executive Board, from management, which is the purview of the Executive Director. The Executive Board therefore asks the members of ASECS to approve the following simple change to Article V section 6 of our Constitution:

From: “The Executive Director shall report to the Board at the time(s) it designates and shall be a member of the Executive Board and the Steering Committee of the Executive Board WITH VOTE.”

To: “The Executive Director shall report to the Board at the time(s) it designates and shall be an EX-OFFICIO member of the Executive Board and the Steering Committee of the Executive Board WITHOUT VOTE.”
