Welcome, SHARP members, to the 2021 election for the leadership of the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading & Publishing There are three categories of leadership, but we are voting this year for one position on the Executive Committee (where there are two candidates for Director of Electronic Resources) and for three on the Board of Directors (where there are eleven candidates for three open positions). For the Nominating Committee, two nominations were received for the two open positions; and for the Director of Conferences, one nomination was received for that role. Those individuals have therefore been elected by acclamation and the offices are listed as “unvotable”. Each candidate has produced a statement of their qualifications and interests. The election portal is found at: https://vote.press.jhu.edu/sharp/election/4. To vote, go to “Ballot View” to read the statements, then cast votes for (a) Director of Electronic Resources; and (b) no more than 3 candidates for Board of Directors. Use your SHARP membership username and password to log in and submit your ballot choices. Once you have logged in through the link below please click on Executive Committee and Board of Directors where you will find statements to help you choose between highly qualified candidates for the openings. Voting will close on Tuesday June 29, 2021. If you encounter any difficulties using the online voting form, please contact technical support at jrnlcirc@jh.edu. If you have questions about the election process, please contact Leslie Howsam, Chair of the Nominating Committee, at lhowsam@uwindsor.ca.

Welcome, SHARP members, to the 2019 election for the leadership of the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading & Publishing!

There are three categories of leadership, but we are voting only for the Board of Directors, where seven candidates have been approved by the Nominating Committee for three open positions. Each candidate has produced a statement of their qualifications and interests. For the Executive and Nominating Committees, only one nomination was received for each position; those individuals have been elected by acclamation and the offices are listed as “unvotable”. However, names and statements are provided under that heading, for the information of membership.

To vote for the Board of Directors, go to “Ballot View” to read the statements, and then cast votes for no more than three of the seven candidates. Voting will close on Monday May 20th 2019.

If you have difficulty logging in, please contact JHUP Customer Service by email at jrnlcirc@press.jhu.edu or by phone at 1-800-548-1784 (Toll Free) or 410-516-6987 (Outside of U.S. and Canada.) If you have questions about the election process, please contact Leslie Howsam, Chair of the Nominating Committee, at lhowsam@uwindsor.ca.

To be ratified, the revised Constitution must receive endorsement from “two-thirds of those members voting by ballot, provided that the lesser of 100 or 10% of the members have registered a vote.” The most urgent aspect of ratifying this revision of the Constitution is to enable the Nominating Committee to seek nominations for separate positions of Director of Awards and Director of Publications (currently a single position held by Claire Squires), but the revisions also address important issues about terms of office and appointment processes for all roles.
